Make a Decision, Pray, and Repent

Step 3 suggests that we make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understand him.

We admitted in step One that we possessed less power than needed to overcome our addiction. In step two, we came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could help us. Now it is time to fully surrender to that greater power.

Notice that step 3 says that we made a decision. So after the decision is made how do we turn or will in our lives over? Well, we have found that this is accomplished by saying a surrender prayer and working the rest of the 12 steps.

Working the steps is how we repent after we have surrendered.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
