Out of Ourselves Under God's Direction
Selfishness is the root of most of our troubles. It's root causes are fear, self delusion, self-seeking, and self-pity. In that state we often hurt others, sometimes without knowing it. Sometimes they retaliate and we don't understand why. But when we examine the circumstances we find that we have made decisions based on self which later place is us in a position to be hurt. We must learn to be rid of this selfishness. Most of us had a lot of moral and philosophical ideas but we could not live up to them. It is seemingly impossible to be rid of this selfishness on our own will. We need God's help. We must realize that in this drama of life God is going to be the director. He is the principal and we are his agents. Established on such a footing we become less interested in ourselves and more interested in what we can contribute to life. This takes us out of self…
