Amends Timing

Timing is an essential part of amends. We will want to make amends when the opportunity presents itself except when to do so will cause more harm.

When it serves a good purpose we can announce our convictions with tact and common sense.

With a person we dislike, we take the bit in OUR teeth. It is harder to go to an enemy than to a friend, but we find it more beneficial to us. We go to him in a helpful and forgiving spirit, confessing or former ill feelings and expressing our regret.

Under no conditions already criticize them or argue. We simply tell them that we will never get over our “malady” until we have done the utmost to straighten out the past. We are there to sweep off OUR side of the street.

Expecting certain results in amends is DANGEROUS. We must be prepared for any multitude of outcomes, remembering always that we have done our part to the best of our ability. We should be in a state of Neutrality safe and protected by our Heavenly Father.
