In step 5 we find a solitary self appraisal insufficient. We are inclined to tell someone else all our life story. We must be entirely honest with someone if we are going to live long and happily in this world. We are trying to lose our egoism and fear while honestly humbling ourselves. Our darkest secrets will die in the light. We must seek to tell someone who is trustworthy to hear these things but will be unaffected by them. We cannot disclose anything to our friends or family which will hurt them or make them unhappy. We have no right to save ourselves at another person's expense. We think it is very important to find the right person, someone confident and understanding in these types of matters.”We pocket our pride and go to it, illuminating every twist of character, every dark cranny of the past.”
