Humility

Humility is the spiritual principle behind step 7: We humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings.

Character defects or shortcomings are those things that cause pain and misery in our lives. If they contributed to our health and happiness, we would not have come to such a state of desperation. Humility plays a big role in our new way of life. We take inventory and we humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings.

This is the road to spiritual growth which we will want to continue. We can pray something like this; “God I am now willing that you should have all of me good and bad. Please remove for me every single defective character that stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Please give me strength as I go out from here to do your work.”
