Surrender / Faith

The spiritual principles of step 3 are surrender and faith. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him. The action part of this step is making a decision. There is prayer attached to this step. Once we've made a decision we pray something like this: “God I offer myself to you, to build with me and do with me as you will. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do your will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of your power, your love, and your way of life. May I do your will always.” We realize we cannot fight our addiction by ourselves and we need God's help. We decide to surrender control of Our lives, motives, and outcomes over to our Heavenly Father. We have admitted that selfishness and everything attached to it has been our main problem. We're preparing to approach life with God as our director. We have faith that he will provide what we need if we remain close to him and perform his work well. We are preparing to be of maximum service to others as God sees fit.
