Courage

The spiritual principle of step 4 is COURAGE: “Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.”

We learn to look for defects in our makeup. We will examine our resentments, fears, and sex conduct. We will learn how decisions based on self later placed us in a position to be harmed. We will see that people who hurt us were perhaps spiritually sick. We will show them tolerance, pity, and patience.

We learned that our fears are based on failure of self-reliance and that we can now rely on God our creator.

As we examine our past sex conduct. We will ask ourselves where we had been selfish, dishonest, or inconsiderate, and how that may have hurt someone. Had we unjustifiably aroused jealousy, suspicion or bitterness? We ask ourselves in all these matters where WE were to blame. We got this all down on paper. We are learning a new sense of perspective and perception.
